| Minigolf joins the Cinque Mulini |
Not only running took place at the 75th edition of the Cinque Mulini in San Vittore Olona (Milan), but minigolf also made a special appearance at this event. In the general quarters of the event a gazebo was present with the objective of publicizing the 2007 World Championships of Minigolf. Throughout the two days of the competition, Saturday and Sunday, thousands of promotional minigolf postcards were distributed to both the public and athletes, who were very curious about the event. Thanks to
the cooperation with the Sport Union and township of San Vittore, minigolf was offered an important position in order to endorse the upcoming events in May and August of this year. The popular promotional post-cards were rapidly engulfed by both the 1200 kids who competed in the student race on Saturday 3 March and by the many athletes of all categories who participated in the historic cross-country race on Sunday.
The title of the event was won by a foreigner yet again this year; the diligence
of Sergei Lebid from the Ukraine earned him the top place in this championship. However Italy, continuing its fast from victory, has not won since 1986 when Alberto Cova enthusiastically took home the gold not only for himself, but also for his beloved Nation.
While waiting for the next edition of the Cinque Mulini, the hope for an Italian win now rests with minigolf, where the hosts of these events aspire to find themselves on the winners’ podium in May and August of this year.
