In occasion for this particular sporting event this spring, one of the most important in the world of minigolf, the organizers have planned a ceremony to give lustre and prestige both to minigolf and the hosting territory of Alto Milanese. This being the first time that a minigolf event of such importance is to be organized in Italy, the idea is to honour one of the art forms that has made Italy famous throughout the world; painting. To accomplish this, the closing ceremony’s location is to take place at the Palazzo Leone da Perego in Via Gilardelli in Legnano,
which in the past few years has become an important exposition setting for art works of high prestige.
The Nations Cup closing ceremony will start at 8 pm and be separated into two parts, the first adhering to the traditional closing ceremony and the second with the goal of bringing in a breath of fresh air to an otherwise traditional ceremony. The first part will include the awards ceremony and closing speeches from the different leaders involved in the event, after which there will be the chance to visit the art gallery’s current exhibition located
on the second floor of the building: the anthology “Varlin. Irony, ash, nothingness”. The show, assembled by Flavio Arensi and Patrizia Guggenheim, was set up thirty years after the death of the artist, Swiss Willy Varlin and includes over 50 paintings, some of which have never been displayed before.
The closing ceremony for the Nations Cup is not a goodbye, but more of a “see you later” as the minigolf World Championships will be held in Italy at the same location in August; this much anticipated event takes place every two years.
