A parade through the streets of Legnano’s city centre and then on to the opening ceremony in the beautiful Palazzo Malinverni, Legnano’s town hall. The city of Legnano is the proud host of the 2007 Minigolf World Championships opening ceremony, scheduled to start at 7.45pm on the 20th of August. This event officially calls the 2007 games to a start. The town hall is located in the historic Palazzo Malinverni, an eclectic building constructed from 1905 to 1909 by the architect Aristide Malinverni.
The ceremony will be preceded by a parade of the participating Nations through the streets of Legnano. The meeting point is scheduled for 7pm in the parking lot on via Gilardelli: from here the 20 plus participating Nations, every which one supporting their own flag, will begin the procession, eventually bringing them to Piazza San Magno, the heart of the city and ending in the historic courtyard of Malazzo Malinverni where the official ceremony will begin. The ceremony will include official speeches from the organizing committees, WMF board members and honoured guests of the area, the national anthems of the participating Nations and following this, the guests of minigolf2007 will also be made to laugh by the entertainment organized for this special event.
The artist Michele Cafaggi will be charged with the task of bringing smiles and grins to the faces of everyone attending the ceremony, however this should not be a difficult challenge for him as he is in the business of making people laugh. Cafaggi is an expert in the art of clowning, juggling and miming, and has travelled far and wide demonstrating his hilarious talent to people in all parts of the world. He has performed in Brasil, Nepal, China and South Korea, and more locally he has also staged shows in France, Switzerland, Spain and of course, throughout Italy. What techniques Cafaggi will be using to entertain us at the 2007 minigolf opening ceremony is left up to him and will surely remain a pleasant surprise to all of us present.
Official Program for the Opening Ceremony:
- 7.00 pm. Meeting point for all nations participating in the parade at the parking in Via Gilardelli in Legnano
- 7.00-7.30 pm. Parade through Legnano’s city centre. The parade will end at the Town Hall (upon entrance all teams are requested to stop at the photo point for their team photo).
- 7.45 pm. Ceremony commences (Welcomes, official speeches, show)
After the ceremony all the guests will be offered a light snack
