Germany is hardly missing any strokes and has arrived on top during the first days of the World Championships tournament, which is taking place at Relax Time in Canegrate (Milan). Determined, precise and focused, the Germans are led by the champion Walter Erlbruch and have finished 2 rounds in 300 strokes. In second, with 20 stokes more is the Swedish national team, while Italy, at the beginning of the second day was in third with only a one stroke difference (321), but has lost ground against the Swiss and now find themselves in fourth place.
The experience has been a more than a march for which has allowed the German men’s team to take such a large lead. The young men making up the Swedish team, despite their talent, have the most tension during this world competition. The same can be said for the Italian national team, led by Rudi Giroldini, which for the first time finds itself with such a high classification during a world championship. The men’s team, composed of Roberto Garbui, Massimiliano Ciceri, Riccardo Simonetta, Francesco Leuci, Massimiliano Crespi, Micheal Prantl and Rudy Giroldini, has taken advantage of their home advantage.
The situation is less sure with regards to the female team category. The Swiss have taken the first position, finishing 3 rounds with 236 strokes. In second is Austria, with 3 strokes more and in third is Germany with a total of 242 strokes. The Italian Anna Bandera, Anna Catanzaro, Monica Dardi and Sara Marchiani are in fifth place with 251 strokes: after an uncertain start, their performance has picked up and are still in the race for a coveted position on the podium.
Today each team will face another 3 rounds. Friday will then be the last day for the team category. On Saturday the final placing for the individual category will be played out among the players who in the first days of competition have earned the top positions: the first 32 men and the first 16 women, who from tomorrow may already be classified.
Updates in the late afternoon with the first results for the qualified individuals.
