Some verifications and lots of changes will occur under the new board of directors of the Italian Minigolf Federation, which met Saturday, 3 February for its annual assembly in the council room at the town hall in Canegrate (MI). On the eve of the important events to take place this year for the first time ever in Italy (the Nations Cup in May and World Championships in August), the Federation renewed its board of directors, choosing from keeping the high positions in tact to making various changes to a big part of other offices. At the helm since 2003, president Giuliano Banfi was re-elected with 260 votes out of 300, and will hold the position until 31 December 2010. Banfi, 52, married, one son, insurance agent by profession, will be the official spokesperson of the Italian team during the world championships: «I’m very happy –says Banfi- of the trust that the assembly has placed in me. It’s a huge honour for me to lead the Italian Federation in this historic year for Italian minigolf. Together with the new board, we will strive towards reaching a positive outcome of the events and making minigolf known not only as a pastime, but also as a real and true sport».
Massimiliano Ciceri, responsible of the technical sector, was also re-elected in his position, as was secretary Fulvio Rossi. New arrivals include vice-president, Osvaldo Pirovano, treasurer Valeriano Clementi, counsellors Cesare Sebastiani, Pietro Gritti, and supplement counsellors Remo Liso and Riccardo Bon. In addition, a new arbitrator council was elected made up of Piero Porta, Maurzio Colombo, Aldo Bugliani, Leonardo Zuppardo.
During the meeting on Saturday the outgoing members of the federation presented a report of work already carried out and also evaluated the situation of the preparation for the upcoming world championships.
